There are some world class book fairs on the near horizon, starting as early as February 2nd for you west coasters. Here is a quick run down of these next 4 big upcoming events.
First off, The San Francisco Antiquarian Book Print & Paper Fair will run on February 2nd and 3rd at the South San Francisco Conference Center. This event will host several exhibitors from all over the world. The hours will be 11 am to 8pm on Friday and 10 – 5 pm on Saturday. Tickets for this event are $12 each.
The ILAB 43rd Congress & Book Fair Los Angeles will run from February 3rd to the 11th. In addition to this, the 51rst California International Antiquarian Book Fair will run Fri – Sun Feb 9 -11 at the Pasadena Convention Center which will feature over 200 different books sellers from over 30 different countries. This is one you won’t want to miss. I’m not sure of the exact cost of tickets on this one but you can find out by contacting the Pasadena Convention Center directly.
If you live on the east coast like me, don’t fret. Just a month later the big apple will hold its 58th annual Antiquarian Book Fair at the Park Avenue Armory from March 8th to the 11th. Again, over 200 dealers will be on hand with huge selections of rare books and ephemera. The New York Book Fair never disappoints. Contact the Park Avenue Armory for further info on hours and ticket prices.
Then in April, if you haven’t had enough yet, or you still haven’t found that one treasure you’ve long been coveting for your collection, there is still The Florida Antiquarian Book Fair which runs from April 20th to the 22nd at The Coliseum in St. Petersburg featuring many booksellers from all over the country. This is actually the third largest book fair in the U.S. and you can buy an entire weekend pass for just $10! I don’t know about you, but I’m in.
I hope some of you can make it to at least one of these great events! And who know knows, we may even unknowingly bump into each other somewhere out there in the world of old books and manuscripts. Hope you find some treasures.
